Wire mesh is woven or welded from wire. Wire diameter is a premier factor in determining the wire mesh specification. There are normally fours ways to identify the wire diameters: BWG, SWG or by mm or by inch.
As the same gauge number in different countries refers to different wire diameters, t his results in the need for repeated confirmation to determine the wire diameter. So nowadays, we usually use wire diameter in mm or in inch instead of gauge number to specify our products.
The SWG (Standard Wire Gauge) and BWG (Birmingham Wire Gauge), are measurement standards used to determine the thickness or diameter of wires, including stainless steel wire, galvanized wire, iron wire, etc.
